Log:

The day finally came for us to leave on our trip. We both had to work on Thursday, and finish packing, so we didn't leave Austin until about 8.30 p.m. that night.

Our dog Juniper was already with Rob's parents; we met Ted and Helen at McKinney Falls State Park on Tuesday where they were camping, and left Juni with them. We skipped out of the camp while Ted took Juni on a walk. Jenn feared that Juni would suffer separation anxiety if we left her that way, but Juni apparently did well in the camper that night -- and for the 3 1/2 weeks she was with her "grandparents." Rob and Jenn suffered, though, and were very glad to get her back.

We drove the new Subaru Forester, about five weeks old when we left. We've named her Alice B., for future reference. Another future reference is Jenn's hair, braided about two weeks earlier. The braids were incredibly easy to take care of (what, wash my hair?) and made the trip that much easier.
