Iguana on the rocks. We went to the far eastern tip of the island where the ruins of a temple still stand. Isla Mujeres probably gets its name from this temple, dedicated to the Goddess Ixchel. When the Spanish arrived in the 1500's, they found the temple deserted, but littered with countless statues dedicated to her.
