Log:

We arrived at Jenn's Mom's house fairly early on Thursday. After we got settled in, we decided to go up to Kennerdell to hike along the Allegheny River. We followed a trail up to an overlook of the river, and hurried back down before the approaching storm could catch up with us. It started raining just as we got back to the Subaru. After driving around the country side a bit more, we headed back for dinner with Jenn's Mom and visited with Jan and Tom after they returned from Pittsburgh.

The next day (7/21) we went hiking with Jan, Tom, Dylan, and Sarah along the Sandy Creek Trail, a Rails-to-Trails conversion. The hike was pretty neat, with lots of river crossings on old train tressels and even an old tunnel. It was pretty flat (and hot!), so we wished we had brought along bikes to ride the trail. After the hike, we went to the Dairy Queen in Franklin to get some ice cream. The DQ was huge, and had a genuine NASA landing capsule out in front.

After DQ, Jenn and Rob checked out the town of Franklin, and headed back to Julie and Todd's house for a cookout with Jenn's brothers and sisters. The cookout was a rousing success, and we camped in the yard with Jan and Tom, and brother Darren (at least until the rains started and the backyard flooded out).

On Saturday (7/22), we had the "Coast" reunion. This was basically all of Jenn's Mom and Grandmother and all her brothers and sisters, and their families. Julie and Todd brought in a photographer who took oodles of photos of every permutation of family we could think of. But, the highlight of the evening was the White Elephant gift exchange that Julie organized. Rob came home with an M&M dispenser, and Jenn got a pair of used Christmas socks.

Sunday (7/22) was the second family reunion of the trip, the Broschart Family reunion. This was Grandma's family, and was more of a traditional reunion, with various cousins, aunts, etc. held at a city park in Hermitage, PA.
